Norwich Cinema City
Description – One of our Projects for our recurring client, City Screen. Alterations and refurbishment of existing Grade I Listed Medieval building to form a new city centre three screen arts cinema. This was a complicated city centre project with party wall and rights to light issues. Multiplicity of funders including Arts Council, Heritage Lottery Fund.
The site saw the transformation of the space from a single screen cinema to three digital screens. The public events with space for exhibitions, a bar area and catering facilities.
We completed the project in multiple phases over specific timescales. We faced challenging budget constraints. BHA satisfied the due diligence requirements of a multiplicity of funders.
Awards – LABC East Anglia Region 2008: Best Access/Disability Innovation Award. LABC National 2008: Best Access/Disability Innovation Award. LABC East Anglia Region 2008: Best Public Community Project (Finalist). Civic Trust Awards 2008: Commendation. Norwich Society “Sir Benard Feilden Award” 2009 – Excellence in Alteration and Restoration of a Historical Building.
