We were delighted last week to attend the official opening of Parliament Hill Athletics Track in Hampstead Heath by Michael Mainelli, the 695th Lord Mayor of the City of London Corporation.
The Burke Hunter Adams team were project and cost managers on the £2 million revamp which took place on a fast track programme last year. You can read more about our role on the project on our case studies page.
Works included resurfacing the track, new energy efficient floodlights and improved infrastructure works. The hope is that the improvements will ensure the site remains a key venue for national and international athletics events and the track retains its UK Athletics Trackmark accreditation.
The project was not all smooth sailing, as poor weather and ground conditions under the surface of the old track made for hard work. However, the finished project is a huge success for the area.
Whilst it was fantastic to see the first runners cross the finish line at the official opening, we are looking forward to the first Night of the 10,000 PBs taking place on the new track on 18th May.
Should you have any questions or a similar project that may need help in managing and controlling cost and time, please do get in touch.
